Financial Services Guide

This Financial Services Guide (“FSG”) is prepared and issued by Generation Life Limited (ABN 68 092 843 902, AFSL 225408) (“Generation Life”) and by Generation Development Services Pty Ltd (ABN 14 093 660 523) ("GDS")  being the Corporate Authorised Representative, No. 001317211 (“CAR”) of Evidentia Financial Services Pty Ltd (ABN 97 664 546 525, AFSL 546217) ("Evidentia") in respect of their representatives who may provide financial services as outlined below. Generation Life, GDS and Evidentia have authorised the distribution of this FSG.

This is an important document that provides you with information about the financial services offered to assist you in deciding whether to use these services.

About

Generation Life is a registered life insurance company.

GDS provides support services to Generation Life such as unit pricing and fund administration services.

Evidentia provides financial services in relation to investment management and tailored managed account solutions, including superannuation products or superannuation investments.

Generation Life, GDS and Evidentia are related bodies corporate as they have the same parent company, Generation Development Group Limited (ABN 90 087 334 370) listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:GDG).

References herein to “us, we or our” are to Generation Life and/or GDS unless specified otherwise.

What financial services do we offer?

Generation Life offers investments in its life insurance investment bonds and its investment-linked lifetime annuity.

Generation Life holds an Australian Financial Services Licence which authorises it to:

  • provide general advice in respect of life products, including investment life insurance products and life risk insurance products; and
  • deal in life products, basic deposit products and managed investment schemes.

GDS is authorised by Evidentia as its CAR to provide general financial product advice only, in relation to superannuation to wholesale and retail clients.

GDS has appointed individuals as sub-authorised representatives of Evidentia.

General advice

If you contact Generation Life or visit our website you will be provided with factual information or general advice only.  Neither Generation Life nor GDS under the CAR with Evidentia is authorised to give personal advice.  As such, any advice that is given to you will not take into account your particular objectives, financial situation or needs.

Product Disclosure Statement (“PDS”)

Before making a decision to invest in our life insurance investment bonds or investment-linked lifetime annuity, you should obtain and read a copy of the relevant Generation Life PDS, which can be downloaded from our website.  The PDS contains important information about the features, benefits, costs and risks associated with investing in our products.

Before making a decision in relation to superannuation products, you should obtain and read a copy of the relevant superannuation product PDS and/or offer documents available from the website of its product issuer.

Generation Life, Evidentia and GDS do not make any guarantee or representation as to any particular level of investment returns. Generation Life does not accept any responsibility or liability for superannuation general financial product advice provided by GDS.

Remuneration and benefits

Generation Life is remunerated by receiving fees and credits on the products in which you invest, as outlined in the relevant PDS. In addition, we may receive payments or rebates from investment managers which may be retained by us or used to reduce the investment management fees you pay.

Generation Life  employees and directors and GDS representatives (and any individuals authorised by Evidentia) are paid remuneration which may comprise both fixed and variable components. Employees in business development roles will receive variable remuneration which is linked to new sales.

GDS receives fees under a separate agreement with Generation Life for support services it provides it.  Such fees are agreed prior to the provision of the services.

GDS pays fees to Evidentia for accepting GDS as its CAR in respect of the authorised superannuation general financial product advice. GDS pays these fees to Evidentia from fees earnt by GDS.

Subject to law, Generation Life may provide remuneration to financial advisers by paying them additional amounts and/or non-monetary benefits.

Any amounts or benefits provided to financial advisers, are payable out of the fees we receive and are not an additional cost to you.

Generation Life and GDS do not pay commissions to financial advisers or other intermediaries although they may facilitate the payment of any fees agreed between you and your financial adviser. 

There is no additional charge to you for the provision of the financial services by representatives of Generation Life, Evidentia or GDS under the CAR.

Conflicts of interest

GDS, Evidentia and Generation Life are aware of the inherent potential for perceived or actual conflicts of interest associated with CAR arrangement between Evidentia and GDS to provide the authorised services.

To manage this conflict, GDS pays Evidentia fees for the authorisation and there is a comprehensive set of policies and procedures in place at Evidentia that sub-authorised representatives are trained on their requirements periodically.

Privacy

Generation Life, Evidentia and GDS are subject to certain legislative and regulatory requirements that necessitate collecting, holding and using detailed information that personally identifies you and/or contains information about you.

Your privacy is respected as we are committed to protecting and maintaining the security of the personal information you provide us. If you want to access your personal information at any time, please let us know or see the Privacy Policy of Generation Life on its website.

Complaints

You should notify us in writing if you have a complaint. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days. We will write to you to explain our decision and any further avenues of recourse.

In respect of any superannuation general financial product advice, please let GDS know in the first instance by using GDS’ ‘Contact us’ details (via Generation Life) below. You can also raise your complaint by contacting Evidentia using its ‘Contact us’ details below.

Generation Life and Evidentia are members of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (“AFCA”), an independent body established to resolve complaints in the financial services industry. If we have not resolved your complaint within a reasonable time or you are not satisfied with our determination of your complaint, you can refer the matter to AFCA for resolution.

AFCA provides fair and independent financial services complaint resolution that's free to consumers.

Time limits may apply to lodge a complaint with AFCA, so you should act promptly. You can check the AFCA website to find out if a time limit applies or when the time limit relevant to your circumstances expires.

Compensation and insurance arrangements

Generation Life has professional indemnity insurance in place that satisfies the requirements under s912B of the Corporations Act 2001 for compensation arrangements. It covers legal liability arising from the financial services we provide to you and potential liability arising from compensation claims.

Evidentia holds professional indemnity insurance that satisfies the requirements of s912B of the Corporations Act 2001 for compensation arrangements. It covers legal liability arising from the financial services GDS provides you and potential liability arising from compensation claims.
